Campfire
Campfire at /camp/campfire is where you study with other people: a direct message with one friend or a group room. Every room has a text chat, plus voice and video when you want to jump on a call.
How to use it
- Go to /camp/campfire.
- Click New Room to create a group room, or open a direct message with a friend from your friends list.
- Share the room’s invite link to bring others in, or invite a friend directly.
- Type in the chat, or click to join the room with voice or video.
What you should see
A room list split into Direct Messages and Rooms. Open one and you get the message history with a composer at the bottom, and a control to join the call. Presence dots show who is online and who is currently in a call.
Good to know
- Text chat: every room and DM keeps its full message history. Send messages and file attachments, and see when someone else is typing.
- Unread counts: rooms with new messages show a badge, and the sidebar shows your total unread across every room.
- Group and direct rooms: a group room supports multiple people; a direct room is one-on-one.
- Invite links: anyone with the link can request to join a group room, subject to accept or decline.
- Room ownership: only the room owner can delete it.
If it doesn’t work
Invite link says expired or invalid: ask the room owner to generate a new one. Links can be revoked.
Can’t hear or see the other person: check your browser’s camera and microphone permissions for Studycamp.
Messages aren’t sending or the history is blank: refresh the page. The chat reconnects on load.
