Key Concepts

Studycamp reuses the same handful of ideas everywhere. Learn these once and every other chapter in this handbook makes sense without re-explaining itself.

The building blocks

  • Workspace: one subject, class, or project (for example “Biology 101”). Everything else lives inside a workspace.
  • File: anything you upload to a workspace or to Storage, such as a PDF, DOCX, or slide deck.
  • Indexing: the process that happens after upload before the AI can answer questions about a file. See File Indexing.
  • Study session: the split-screen page where you read a file and use AI tools on it at the same time. See Study Sessions.
  • Tool: a single AI feature inside a study session, such as Chat, Summary, Quiz, or Flashcards.
  • Credit: the unit AI actions cost. Every plan gets a monthly credit allowance. See Usage Limits.

How they fit together

  1. You create a workspace for a class.
  2. You upload a file to it. Studycamp indexes it in the background.
  3. Once indexing finishes, you open a study session on that file.
  4. Inside the session, you switch between tools: ask a question in Chat, generate a Summary, build a Quiz, make Flashcards.
  5. Each generation spends credits from your plan’s monthly allowance.

Good to know

  • A workspace can hold many files, and a study session can pull context from more than one of them at once.
  • Files stay in your account even if you delete the workspace they were uploaded through, because they also live in Storage.
  • Credits are shared across the whole account, not per workspace. Generating a quiz in one class and a summary in another draws from the same pool.
