Study Sessions
A study session is the screen where you actually study a file: the document on one side, your AI tools on the other.
How to open one
- Open a workspace at
/camp/workspaces/[id]. - Click a file, then Start Study Session to open
/camp/workspaces/[id]/study/[sessionId]. - Switch tools with the number keys or the tool tabs. Default hotkeys:
1Chat,2Deep Research,3Summary,4Quiz,5Flashcards,6Backpack.
What you should see
The file on one side and the active tool’s panel on the other. Switch layout between side-by-side (file left or right), file only, or chat only from the layout control.
Good to know
- Customizable tabs: change which tools sit in which hotkey slot; your choice is remembered as a default and per session.
- Add more tools: the + button in the tab bar adds tools you’ve installed from the Plugins page, like Feynman and Homework.
- Backpack tab: brings productivity tools like Notes, To-do, Kanban, Canvas, Dictionary, Wolfram, Calendar, Grades, and Voice Notes inline, without leaving the session.
- Built in: a Pomodoro widget and an ambient sounds player are available without leaving the session.
- File sidebar: switch between files in the same workspace without losing your place in the active tool.
- Pro-locked tools show a crown icon; clicking one opens the upgrade prompt instead of running it.
Every AI study tool chapter in this handbook assumes you’re inside a study session unless it says otherwise: Chat with Docs, Summaries & Glossaries, Tests, Quizzes & Exams, Flashcards, Deep Research, Feynman, Homework.
Limits and costs
Free accounts get 1 study session per workspace. Pro Student and Exam Booster are unlimited. See Usage Limits.
If it doesn’t work
“Session limit reached” on a Free workspace: Free allows 1 session per workspace. Delete the existing one or upgrade.
Number-key hotkeys switch the wrong tool: you or someone else customized the tab order for this session; check the tab config in the session’s settings.
