Chat with Docs

Chat is the tool inside a study session that answers questions using the file you’re viewing. It’s different from AI Chat, which is a general assistant not tied to any workspace.

How to use it

  1. Open a study session and select Chat (hotkey 1 by default).
  2. Ask a question about the document.
  3. The AI answers using its content, with citations back to the page the answer came from.

What you should see

An answer in the chat panel with a citation you can click to jump to the source page in the document.

Good to know

  • Split view: the document reader and chat window sit side by side; swap their positions from the layout control.
  • Multi-document context: if a workspace has several files, switch between them in the dropdown; the AI can pull from the whole workspace, not just the open file.
  • Persistence: chat history is saved per workspace, so you can pick up where you left off.

Limits and costs

50 credits per message.

If it doesn’t work

“Nothing relevant found” for a question you know is in the file: the file may still be indexing. Check File Indexing.
